PLUSSIXFIVE presents DJ RYSTY (DIRTYGROOVE, GET BUSY!) - NEW ZEALAND/ UK

Ryan Chenery aka RYSTY is a DJ, producer and all round nice guy, spinning mainly funky and filthy breakbeat, in, around, and away from London.

Rysty played his first gig at age 12. His first love was officially hip-hop, with his 1st vinyl purchase being Biz Markie's The Biz Never Sleeps. Early teenage years were spent tinkering with synths, sequencers & wave editors on the C64 and Amiga, reproducing instrumentals of Beastie Boys tracks.

A year at a high school in Japan saw him pick up a guitar, pursuing the "Rock 'n roll Lifestyle" right up through university. In 1999, Rysty's band "Subversive" morphed into a Drum 'n Bass outfit with a name too ridiculous to mention here, before dissolving into nothing. It is at this point that he picked up DJing as an effective alternative to the hours of setting up, co-ordination with other musicians, and actually having to write and perform the music.

During his 2 year Friday night residency at Suede in Auckland, Rysty cut his teeth DJing, forcing funk & deep house down the throats of cricket players and models.  He also appeared consecutively at the legendary outdoor new year festivals "The Gathering" with the likes of John Digweed & Way Out West, and played a few choice slots on Auckland's bFM.

After a long plane ride, Rysty landed in London in 2003, and has been interfering with people's musical privates ever since.

As resident and co-founder of three monthly nights in London, DirtyGroove, Get Busy!, and My Tune is Too Big!, and a regular guest at other parties round the place, he's a busy lad. His knack for serving up dynamic and animated party style sets, iced with scratching, acapellas and cheeky touches has earned him a reputation as a DJ to keep tabs on. Rysty is also known for his inability to keep still behind the decks, constantly jumping around and making stupid funk faces.

He's won DJ competitions, hosted and guested on radio, he's supported artists such as Carl Cox, Jon Carter, Atomic Hooligan, Soul of Man, and Jon Digweed, and rocked venues including Turnmills, Egg, Herbal, Inigo, Hidden and The White House, and some random spots in Ibiza also.

Rysty is currently in the studio polishing off an EP, for a sneak preview check out his myspace page.

RYSTY WILL BE HEADLINING PLUSSIXFIVE AT HORSE & GROOM ON 19TH SEPT, 2008!

GETTING TO KNOW ... DJ KEANJIN (PLUSSIXFIVE) & THE CLUBREES DJS

It was in the warehouse and campsites of Southern California that Singaporean born, London based DJ KeanJin was awakened to the pleasures of house music.

Playing alongside house music luminaries like Roy Davies, Junior Marques Watt, Colette, John Tejada and Jay Tripwire at venues like Los Angeles’s Key Club and Nacional, KJ moved to London in 2006 and have since further stamp his sound on the deeper and techier side of house music.

All born and bred in UK, the trio brothers of CLUBREES hail from the infamous night in West London called Unzipped @ The Fly. It says a thing or two about them - essentially having fun playing back to back and rotating deck duties for their resident night.

In the midst of the debauchery at their gigs, the CLUBREES brothers also try their very best not to forget about their audience - churning out an infectious party mix of indie and electro tunes from the likes of Interpol, Hot Chip, Strokes, Cribs & Justice.
