It was University, where he studied music and media management and marketing where he was first introduced to the thriving East End minimal music scene and during this time when he started his first party, Battery Box.

Battery Box quickly established a reputation as a quality underground minimal party, held at Public Life (Shoreditch) once a month, the night featured guests such as Baby Ford, Argy, Gummihz, Miss Jules, Jamie Jones, Boris Horel, and live sets from the likes of Ekkohaus and Confetti Bomb.

At the same time, James Manero set up west end Electro night Warme at the internationally famous, Sketch on a Friday night. Run with his partner in crime, J. Saintil, the night became one of the best Electro nights in the west end and was responsible for really bringing Electro to the west end market.

Shortly after Sketch, he went on to set up Social Club, an industry night held every Monday also in the west end at the Burlington Club. It was due to his success running Social Club that he was then offered the position of General Manager of the club, which he ran for a year before deciding it was time to move back to his real passion, running parties and Djing.

Since leaving the Burlington Club, he has gone on to set up the night, One Night at Momo’s every Thursday at Momo’s Kemia Bar with resident Boris Horel.

His latest project is as the head of marketing and programming for Bar Rumba, London’s legendary club established for more than 15 years. With an opportunity to turn the club around and book some of the biggest names in house and techno, the rest of 2008 should be interesting, not only for James, but also for London’s club scene with names such as Matthias Tanzmann, Alex Smoke, Dan Ghenacia, Dominik Eulberg, Tom Neville, Xpress2, Tom Stephan and Serge Santiago booked for the launch month, and obviously James Manero as resident of Bar Rumba’s new Saturday night dedicated to everything techno…..

Watch this space.

J. Saintil (Warme)

"This kid's the shit" - Trevor Jackson (Output).

J. Saintil is one of those names that hangs in the air like jasmine or particularly potent pot pourri. Uncannily familiar yet at the same time distinct. Why? Well it probably has to do with his covert manoeuvres ducking in and out of the radar; playing with the likes of Ekkohaus and Mobilee's boy wonder Gummihz at warehouse parties to playing 8000-capacity festivals such as Tales Of The Jackalope with the likes of Mylo, Justice and the Bugged Out posse or The Electronic Winter Ball with Mouse On Mars and Sud Electronic's Portable. Then flying overseas to play launch parties in Helsinki with local heroes Finndisco, roof parties in Berlin with Rolf Hegelstien and plusher than plush all-expenses-paid birthday parties at Sketch with the aforementioned Trevor Jackson and Oskar from Berlin hipster-hangout F.U.N. Not to mention headlining gigs from Copenhagen to Vilnus. Then, just like that he's back on the map, playing a residency at AKA's party of choice 'The Players' for 3 years, turning up to spin with the high gloss disco dons Laser Magnetic with the likes of Metro Area, Padded Cell and Lindstrom merely to 'vanish' at his residencies 'Warme' and 'Reverb' with Playtime's Big Daddy and Marketing Music's head honcho Tim Paris.

Heck, none of this even mentions his 93 Feet East party 2Disco that saw Mr Saintil spin with Freestyle Man, see in (and out) the New Year back to back with Chicken Lips, having a minimal giggle with the Freude Am Tanzen's Krause Duo nr. II nor finishing his Masters Degree in the process.

What to expect when you hear him? Funk-inspired electro-tinged house music. Sometimes it's teeters toward disco, sometimes it drops and becomes a little minimal-esque, but be sure, he always rocks - just ask Trevor Jackson.

Anthea (Phonica/Mojuba)

Anthea’s dj career started in 1997, it has seen her spin all over London & Europe. She has Played with some of the best names Locodice, Mr C, Lee Burridge, Efdemin, Tania Vulcano, Jamie Jones, ZIP, Giles Smith, Ralph Lawson & David Duriez to name a few… Anthea has been on the circuit rocking dance floors of places like: Panorama Bar (Berlin), T Bar (London), The End & AKA (London), The Roof (Moscow), Lasal (Barcelona), Underground & Space (Ibiza), as well as guested reguarly at Parties such as Faith, Clandestino & CircoLoco, the list could go on…

Recent adventures in the production field as part of the JC Freaks duo (formed with Werner Niediermer) gained her a release on the well respected house label Mojuba. ‘The Rock’ was sold out within a month, re-pressed and could be found on the ‘essential list’ on sites such as Hardwax, Freebase, Phonica Records, juno records, and rush hour… ‘The Rock’ (“a real underground minimal house banger…. fresh but classic at the same time!” a quote from Wordandsound), seemed to reach across the board with massive support from dj’s such as; Tobi Neumann, Ame, Jay Haze, Martin Landsky, Damian Lazarus, Cle, Dj Deep, Manuel Tur, Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Giles Smith and many more… ‘The rock’ it would seem has been a staple for all deep house soldiers.

Following the success of ‘The Rock’, ‘The Number One Ep’ is lined up for Spring 2009 as a follow up single on Mojuba/Wandering Records, ‘Dub Praise’ (with production partner Werner Niedermeir) and ‘Down With G.O.D’ (with production partner Alex Celler) on the new ‘Phonica’ label due also in 2009, as well as having several remix offers in the pipe line…

Anthea currently works at London’s leading electronic music store, Phonica Records and hosts a monthly party at an exclusive members club in London’s Mayfair called ‘Balance’, which runs every last Saturday of the month, as well as co-hosting monthly Phonica parties at london’s T-Bar; an awesome underground venue in the heart of London’s East-End.

Anthea has her own unique sound and many promoters have said her DJing skills are second to none…

Mr C quoted recently… ‘This girl has really got the groove. Anthea delivers nice, long drawn out mixes, with great work of the EQ’s creating that third – track in the mix. Her subtlety oozes soul and sophistication that most of her male counterparts can only wish for. Her music selection is deep and funky, yet totally cutting edge. His first love was officially hip-hop, with his 1st vinyl purchase being Biz Markie's The Biz Never Sleeps. Early teenage years were spent tinkering with synths, sequencers & wave editors on the C64 and Amiga, reproducing instrumentals of Beastie Boys tracks.

A year at a high school in Japan saw him pick up a guitar, pursuing the "Rock 'n roll Lifestyle" right up through university. In 1999, Rysty's band "Subversive" morphed into a Drum 'n Bass outfit with a name too ridiculous to mention here, before dissolving into nothing. It is at this point that he picked up DJing as an effective alternative to the hours of setting up, co-ordination with other musicians, and actually having to write and perform the music.

During his 2 year Friday night residency at Suede in Auckland, Rysty cut his teeth DJing, forcing funk & deep house down the throats of cricket players and models. He also appeared consecutively at the legendary outdoor new year festivals "The Gathering" with the likes of John Digweed & Way Out West, and played a few choice slots on Auckland's bFM.

After a long plane ride, Rysty landed in London in 2003, and has been interfering with people's musical privates ever since.

As resident and co-founder of three monthly nights in London, DirtyGroove, Get Busy!, and My Tune is Too Big!, and a regular guest at other parties round the place, he's a busy lad. His knack for serving up dynamic and animated party style sets, iced with scratching, acapellas and cheeky touches has earned him a reputation as a DJ to keep tabs on. Rysty is also known for his inability to keep still behind the decks, constantly jumping around and making stupid funk faces.

He's won DJ competitions, hosted and guested on radio, he's supported artists such as Carl Cox, Jon Carter, Atomic Hooligan, Soul of Man, and Jon Digweed, and rocked venues including Turnmills, Egg, Herbal, Inigo, Hidden and The White House, and some random spots in Ibiza also.

Rysty is currently in the studio polishing off an EP, for a sneak preview check out his myspace page.

RYSTY WILL BE HEADLINING PLUSSIXFIVE AT HORSE & GROOM ON 19TH SEPT, 2008!

myspace.com/rysty

rysty.com

Keishihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11559137182702739353noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1653424166536414021.post-53995275090792191182008-09-07T18:00:00.002+01:002008-09-07T18:07:32.353+01:008 DJs & 8 indie films in 2 rooms in central Shoreditch FREE ALL NIGHT ...FREE.
